And the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fallen from heaven to the earth, and the key to the shaft of the abyss was given to him.
And he opened the shaft of the abyss, and smoke rose out of the shaft, like the smoke of a great furnace, and the sun and the air were darkened by the smoke from the pit.
And out of the smoke locusts came onto the earth, and power was given to them, like the scorpions of the earth have power.
And they were told not to hurt the grass of the earth, nor any green thing, nor any tree, but only those people who do not have the seal of God on their foreheads.
And they were not given authority to kill them, but that they were to be tormented five months, and their torment was like the torment of a scorpion when it strikes someone.
And in those days people will seek death but will not find it, and they will long to die, but death will flee from them.
And the shapes of the locusts were like horses prepared for war, and on their heads were something like crowns similar to gold, and their faces were like human faces.
And they had hair like the hair of women, and their teeth were like the teeth of lions.
And they had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like the sound of chariots, of many horses rushing to war.
And they have tails like scorpions, and stingers, and in their tails is their power to hurt people for five months.
They have as king over them the angel of the abyss. His name in Hebrew is Abaddon, and in the Greek language he has the name Apollyon.
The first Terror is past. Look! There are still two Terrors after this.
And the sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a voice from the horns of the golden altar that is before God,
one saying to the sixth angel that had one trumpet, “Loose the four angels that are bound at the great river Euphrates.”
And the four angels that had been prepared for the hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of humankind.
And the number of the armies of the horsemen was twice ten thousand times ten thousand (I heard the number of them).
And this is how I saw the horses in the vision, and those who sat on them: having breastplates as of fire and of hyacinth and of sulfur, and the heads of lions, and out of their mouths comes fire and smoke and sulfur.
By these three plagues a third of humankind was killed; by the fire and the smoke and the sulfur that came out of their mouths.
For the power of the horses is in their mouths, and in their tails, for their tails are like serpents, and have heads, and with them they do harm.
And the rest of humankind, those who were not killed with these plagues, did not repent of the works of their hands, nor did they give up worshiping demons and the idols of gold, and of silver, and of bronze, and of stone, and of wood, which are not able to see, nor hear, nor walk,
and they did not repent of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their sexual immorality, nor of their thefts.
