Romans 14

Do Not Pass Judgment on One Another

As for the one who is weak in trust, welcome him, but not to the end of quarreling over his opinions.
One person believes he may eat anything, but the one who is weak eats only vegetables.
The one who eats everything must not treat the one who does not eat with contempt, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who eats, for God has accepted him.
Who are you to judge someone else’s household slave? It is to his own lord he stands or falls. And he will be made to stand, for the Lord is able to make him stand.
One person judges one day to be above another day, while another judges every day alike. Each person must be fully convinced in his own mind.
The one who observes the day, observes it for the Lord, and the one who eats, eats for the Lord, for he gives thanks to God, and the one who does not eat, it is for the Lord he does not eat and gives thanks to God.
For none of us lives for himself, and none dies for himself.
For if we live, we live for the Lord, or if we die, we die for the Lord. So then, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s.
For to this end Christ died and became alive again—so that he would be Lord over both the dead and the living.
But you, why do you judge your brother? Or also, you, why do you treat your brother with contempt? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.
For it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee will bow to me, and every tongue will confess to God.
So then each one of us will give an account of himself to God.

Do Not Cause Another to Stumble

Therefore, let us not judge one another anymore, but judge this one thing instead: not to put a stumbling block or pitfall in a brother or sister’s way.
(I know, and am persuaded in the Lord Jesus, that nothing is unclean in itself, but to the one who considers something to be unclean, to that person it is unclean).
For if your fellow Christian is distressed because of your food, you are no longer walking in love. Do not, by your food, be destroying the one for whom Christ died!
Therefore, what you consider to be a good thing must not become an occasion for defaming talk!
For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of food and drink, but righteousness and peace and joy in the holy spirit.
For the one who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by people.
So then, let us continually pursue the things that produce peace and things that build up one another.
Do not, because of food, be tearing down the work of God! For all things are clean, but it is evil for a person, by what he eats, to cause another to stumble.
It is good not to eat meat, nor to drink wine, nor to do anything by which your brother or sister stumbles.
The belief that you have about such things, have as your own conviction before God. Blessed is the one who does not judge himself in what he approves.
But the one who doubts is condemned if he eats, because his eating is not based on trust, and whatever is not based on trust is sin.
