And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key of the Abyss and a great chain in his hand.
And he laid hold on the dragon, the old serpent, who is the Devil and the Adversary, and bound him for 1,000 years,
and he threw him into the abyss and shut it and sealed it over him so that he could not deceive the nations any more until the 1,000 years were finished; after that he must be loosed for a short time.
And I saw thrones, and those seated on them had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus and for the word of God, and such as had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received the mark on their forehead and on their hand, and they came to life, and reigned with Christ 1,000 years;
this is the first resurrection. The rest of the dead did not come to life until the 1,000 years were finished.
Blessed and holy is whoever has a part in the first resurrection, over these people the second death has no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ, and will reign with him 1,000 years.
The Defeat of Satan
And when the 1,000 years are finished, the Adversary will be loosed out of his prison
and will come out to deceive the nations that are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to the war, the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.
And they went up over the width of the earth and surrounded the camp of the holy ones and the beloved city, and fire came down out of heaven and devoured them.
And the Devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, where both the beast and the false prophet had been thrown, and they will be tormented day and night for ages and ages.
Judgment Before the Great White Throne
And I saw a great white throne, and him who sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heavens fled away, and there was no place found for them.
And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged out of the things that were written in the books, according to their works.
And the sea gave up the dead who were in it, and death and the grave gave up the dead who were in them, and they were judged, each one, according to their works.
And death and the grave were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death—the lake of fire.
And anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
