Who Can Stand Before You?
God is known in Judah. His name is great in Israel.
Yes, his lair came to be in Salem; yes, his den is in Zion.
There he has shattered the flaming arrows of the bow, the shield, and the sword, and war. Selah.
You are glorious, the Majestic One coming down from the mountains of prey.
The stouthearted were plundered, they sank into sleep. And all of the powerful men cannot find their hands.
At your rebuke, O God of Jacob, both charioteer and horse are cast into a deep sleep.
You, even you, are to be feared. So who can stand in your presence when you are angry?
You caused judgment to be heard from heaven. The earth feared and was silent
when God arose for judgment, to deliver all the afflicted of the earth. Selah.
For your wrath against humankind will bring you praise. You will wrap yourself with the rest of your wrath.
Make vows to Yahweh your God, and fulfill them! Let all who are around him bring tribute to him who is to be feared.
He will humble the spirit of princes. He is feared by the kings of the earth.
