“Speak to the children of Israel, saying, If a woman conceives and bears a male child, then she will be unclean seven days; as in the days of her monthly period she will be unclean.
In the eighth day the flesh of his foreskin must be circumcised.
Then she is to continue in a state of blood purification for 33 more days. She must not touch any holy thing, nor come into the sanctuary until the days of her purifying are completed.
But if she bears a female child, then she will be unclean two weeks, just as in her monthly uncleanness, then she is to continue in a state of blood purification for 66 days.
“And when the days of her purification are completed, for either a son or for a daughter, she is to bring to the priest at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and also a young pigeon or a turtledove for a sin offering,
and he will offer it before Yahweh and make atonement for her, and she will be cleansed from the flow of her blood. This is the law for she who gives birth, whether to a male or to a female baby.
And if she cannot afford a lamb, then she is to bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons, the one for a burnt offering and the other for a sin offering, and the priest will make atonement for her and she will be clean.”
