But know this, that in the last days difficult times will come.
For people will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy,
without natural affection, unwilling to be reconciled to others, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, not interested in doing what is good,
treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God,
having a form of godliness but denying its power. Turn away from such people.
For among them are those with false pretenses who slip into homes and capture the attention of weak-willed women who are weighed down with sins and led along by various passions,
who are always learning but never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.
And just as Jannes and Jambres stood against Moses, so also these people stand against the truth—people who have a corrupt mind and are disqualified concerning the faith.
But they will not get very far because their lack of understanding will become clear to everyone, as it also was with those two men.
All Scripture Is Breathed Out by God
But you closely followed my doctrine, conduct, purpose, trust, patience, love, endurance,
as well as the persecutions and sufferings that happened to me at Antioch, at Iconium, and at Lystra; I endured such persecutions and the Lord rescued me from them all.
And indeed, all those who want to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted,
but evil people and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived.
But you—continue in the things that you have learned and firmly believed, because you know who you learned them from,
and also that from a baby you have known the sacred writings, which are able to give you wisdom leading to salvation through trust in Christ Jesus.
All Scripture is God-breathed and is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness,
so that the person dedicated to God can be fully capable, thoroughly equipped for every good work.
