Paul, and Silvanus, and Timothy, to the church of the Thessalonians in God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:
Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Thanksgiving
We are obligated to always give thanks to God for all of you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your trust is growing abundantly, and the love each one of you all has for one another is increasing.
Therefore, we ourselves boast about you in the churches of God because of your endurance and trust in the midst of all your persecutions and afflictions that you are enduring.
The Judgment at Christ's Coming
It is evidence of the righteous judgment of God that you will be counted worthy of the Kingdom of God for which you also are suffering,
since it is righteous for God to repay with affliction those who are afflicting you
and to give relief to you who are being afflicted, as well as to us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his powerful angels
in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God and on those who do not obey the good news of our Lord Jesus.
They will pay the penalty of everlasting destruction away from the presence of the Lord and away from his glorious strength
on that Day when he comes to be glorified by his holy ones and to be marveled at by all those who believed (this includes you because our testimony to you was believed).
And in view of this we always pray for you, that our God will count you worthy of his calling and by his power fulfill every desire for goodness and every work motivated by trust,
so that the name of our Lord Jesus will be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
