2 Chronicles 19

Jehoshaphat's Reforms

Then Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned in peace to his house in Jerusalem.
But Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him and said to King Jehoshaphat, “Should you help the wicked and love those who hate Yahweh? Because of this, wrath is on you from the presence of Yahweh.
Nevertheless, there are good things with you, because you have purged the Asherahs from the land and have set your heart to seek God.”
Jehoshaphat lived at Jerusalem, and he went out again among the people from Beer-sheba to the hill country of Ephraim and brought them back to Yahweh, the God of their fathers.
He appointed judges in the land in all the fortified cities of Judah, city by city,
and he said to the judges, “Consider what you do, for you are not pronouncing judgments on behalf of a man, but on behalf of Yahweh, and he is with you in your judgment.
So now let the fear of Yahweh be on you. Be careful and do it right, because there is no injustice with Yahweh our God, nor partiality, nor taking of bribes.”
Also, in Jerusalem Jehoshaphat appointed some Levites and priests and some of the heads of the fathers’ households of Israel to give Yahweh’s judgment and to settle disputes, and they lived in Jerusalem.
And he commanded them, saying, “Do this judging in the fear of Yahweh, faithfully and with a wholly devoted heart.
Whenever any dispute comes to you from your brothers who dwell in their cities concerning bloodshed, law or commandment, statutes or ordinances, you are to warn them so that they will not be guilty before Yahweh and so that there will not be wrath on you and on your brothers. Do this and you will not be guilty.
“Behold, Amariah the head priest is over you in all matters concerning Yahweh, and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael the ruler of the house of Judah, in all the king’s matters; also the Levites are to be officers in your presence. Deal courageously and may Yahweh be with the upright.”
